Let’s talk about “ish.” If you have been to England you may have heard a sentence that goes something like this:
“Hi mate, when shall we meet at the pub tonight?”
“I don’t know how about tonight at nineish.”
Are you hungry?
Yes, hungryish. (I am a little hungry.)
What does this “Ish” word mean exactly?
You use it when you are not sure about something.
Let’s say for example you are having a busy day at work, you are having a busy day at work, you know that you are going to finish at about 7 o’clock but you are not sure exactly what time you will get home.
You may say to your mother I will get home at bout seven thirty ish.
